We've got all the tatami mats cut, wrapped and in the walls. So, the insulation work is complete. Most of it has a layer of bamboo slabs complimented by a generous layer of mortar (the first floor needs a little work).
On top of that, we have the icing, plaster, which is supposed to be used for filler between roofing tiles, but I don't see any reason why it can't be used for walls. Though admittedly, it's a tad grayer than the more expensive interior plaster.
Planning to finish the plastering next week and then sand the floor and put a coat of polyurethene on. It's almost liveable. We both agree, the addition of mortar and plaster in the walls seems to help regulate the humidity much better than before.
